One press, and you are on the new version
Until now, the 'update available' pill was honest but lazy: it noticed a new version and then handed you off to a download page to do the rest yourself -> find the file, run the installer, click through it, reopen the app. This release closes that loop. One press downloads the next version, checks that it was genuinely signed by us and not tampered with on the way, installs it straight over the running app, and relaunches you into it. The pill shows the download filling up as it goes, so it is its own progress bar. The part that matters and is easy to get wrong: nothing you have built up is touched. Your Rewind history, your open tabs, every setting -> all of it lives in a database beside the app rather than inside it, so swapping the app out and back in leaves it exactly where it was. You update and you are still looking at the same tabs. It is done the careful way. The download is verified against a key baked into the app before a single byte is installed, so a bad network or a bad actor cannot slip a different program in. And if anything at all goes wrong -> the server is unreachable, the signature does not check out -> it quietly falls back to opening the download page, exactly what it did before, so you are never left stranded. One honest note: this is the first version that carries the machinery, so it is the next update, not this one, that an existing install can take in a single press. Underneath, one real correctness fix on the engine: reading an element's inline style as a list -> how a lot of framework and devtools code walks the styles set on an element -> now reports a real count and real names instead of empty strings, so that code stops getting nonsense. The full engine gate holds at 6375 of 6375.
