Sharper text kerning and correct news-site image cards
Text now kerns modern fonts the way other browsers do, and news-style picture cards lay out correctly. The engine reads pair kerning from the GPOS table that fonts like the macOS system font, Inter, and DM Sans store it in, so letter pairs such as 'To' and 'VA' tighten the way their designers intended. It also fixes how it builds picture-card grids - deriving each card's height from the image's aspect ratio and keeping a hidden duplicate image out of the layout flow - so cards sit beside their headline at the right height instead of collapsing to a strip or stretching too tall.
