Long videos play all the way through on Windows too
A small release that finishes the job the last one started. On macOS, a longer video already played to its end, decoded in pieces as it went. Windows was still decoding the whole clip up front and gave up after about half a minute, so a longer video stopped partway. Now Windows streams the same way: it decodes each chunk of the picture as playback reaches it, with the next chunk prepared in the background, so a video of any length plays right through in modest memory, exactly as on macOS. As before, this is the royalty-free path plus the patent-encumbered formats handed to your operating system's own decoder; nothing about what plays changes, only that Windows now plays the whole thing.
