Text breathes like the reference browser, and the old web settles into place
Ten fixes, and the biggest one is also the subtlest: the spacing between lines of text. Sites say how much room a line of text should get, and Floati had been ignoring the request and using one fixed value everywhere, so every paragraph on every site sat slightly tighter than it does in the reference browser. That is fixed, checked against the reference browser to the tenth of a pixel. The rest of the release runs from the very old web to the very new: pages built with the twenty-year-old centring tags now sit in the middle of the window like they should, a link-sharing site among them; the rule that decides whether a site's own styling beats the browser's built-in defaults now follows the standard, which stops built-in list bullets and list spacing from bleeding through site designs; sites that size their text relative to a page-wide base no longer come out a third too large; the mechanism Vue-era sites use to run their page templates is now understood; and a string of smaller faults - invisible menus painting over pages, login links refusing to sit at the far edge of the header, vote counts printing on top of their arrows - are all gone.
