Faster JavaScript
Under the hood, Floati's JavaScript engine now keeps every value in a much more compact form, eight bytes instead of twenty four, so the most common work a page does, arithmetic in loops, function calls, and building up results, moves less data around and runs measurably faster. In our benchmarks a tight counting loop is about a fifth quicker and repeated function calls about a tenth quicker, with every workload we measured improving. Nothing about how pages look or behave changes; the same pages simply do their work with less overhead. It also lays the groundwork for a bigger speed-up still to come.
