Pixel-perfect painting: shadows, blurs, underlines, images
A sweep through how the from-scratch engine puts pixels on the screen, closing the gap with a mainstream browser. Soft drop shadows under cards, buttons and menus now paint at the right darkness and softness instead of nearly invisible - a real bug painted a 15%-opacity shadow at about 2% - with correctly shaped corners. Blurs are the right strength everywhere: text shadows, the frosted-glass backdrop effect, and drop-shadow filters match what the reference browser draws. Link underlines now skip below the tails of letters like g and y and take their weight from the font, instead of a flat line straight through the text. A faded element fades as one piece rather than letting its inner parts bleed through each other. Images shown larger than their real size scale up smoothly instead of blocky. And four more blend modes work. Pages that used none of this are unchanged, to the pixel.
