★The reference browser parity, on our own engine
Hover or drag along the releases above to see the engine at that moment. Each feature lights up in the release that started it and the release that finished it; recent releases also light every feature they worked on.
A PDF viewer that does what Acrobat Pro charges for
Floati now opens PDFs with its own engine and a viewer built for reading and working with documents: a clean Reader mode, answers to your questions cited to the page, scans that become searchable, side by side version compare, dark pages, annotation, true redaction with proof, page organising, forms, text editing, digital and handwritten signatures and pictures to PDF. All of it runs on this device, free. Also new: Floati's own DevTools, and cleaner, familiar tabs.
Floati reads PDFs with its own engine, written from scratch: it opens every PDF we tested (over 1,200 files, page counts identical to the system PDF viewer), renders them within a fraction of a colour step of the system renderer, and extracts their text more completely than before, including Japanese, Chinese and Korean documents and fonts drawn as pictures.
Tabs & interface
Reader mode turns any PDF into clean, resizable text: headings, paragraphs and lists in reading order, two-column papers unwound into one column, page headers and footers removed, and figures and tables kept as images. Light, sepia or dark, at the text size you like.
Memory & reading
Ask this PDF: type a question and get the sentences that answer it, each cited to its page. Click a citation and the sentence lights up on the page. It runs on this device, so a 1,000-page book is indexed in seconds and nothing is uploaded.
Tabs & interface
Scanned pages become real text automatically, recognised on this device (the system's text recognition on Mac, Windows OCR on Windows). You can then select, copy, search and ask questions of a scan like any other PDF.
Tabs & interface
Compare two versions of a document word by word: pages are lined up, additions and removals are marked in place, side by side, with a list of every change. Contract and policy updates stop being a hunt.
Tabs & interface
Dark and sepia pages that keep photos in their real colours: text and backgrounds are recoloured by the engine, pictures are left alone.
Tabs & interface
Annotate: highlight, underline and strike through text (snapped to the words), sticky notes, freehand drawing, boxes, text and stamps, with undo and redo. Highlights can be saved into your Floati memory so Ask your reading finds them later.
Privacy & Shields
Redaction that really removes things. Marked areas, or every email address, phone number, ID number, card number or word you choose, are removed from the file itself (text, image pixels and drawings underneath), not hidden under a black box. Afterwards the document is read back and checked, and you are shown the proof. Hidden metadata can be scrubbed too.
Tabs & interface
Organise pages: drag to reorder, rotate, delete, duplicate, insert blank pages, merge another PDF, extract or split. Add photos as pages, or make a new PDF from pictures (JPEGs go in without losing quality).
Tabs & interface
Fill in forms directly on the page, then flatten them if you like. Edit text in place: click a line, retype it, and it is redrawn in a matching font.
Privacy & Shields
Signatures, both kinds. Digital signatures are checked with our own cryptography (certificates, timestamps, and whether the document changed after signing), and you can sign with your own certificate. Or add a handwritten signature: draw it, type it in a script font, or use a photo of it, save it on this device, then click to place it and drag to size it.
Privacy & Shields
The PDF firewall shows what a document tried to do when it opened (scripts, automatic actions, attachments, links out) and can strip it all from the file. Save a protected copy with AES-256 encryption and permissions.
Tabs & interface
Export a PDF to Markdown (headings, lists and figures as images), plain text or one image per page, and present it full screen or read it as a two-page spread.
PDF
JPEG 2000 pictures inside PDFs now show instead of grey boxes, decoded by our own from-scratch decoder: bit-exact on lossless images and several times faster than the standard open-source one.
DevTools
Floati's own DevTools: Elements with live style editing, Console, a JavaScript debugger with breakpoints and stepping, Network, a Performance recorder with a real CPU profiler, and a Memory panel with heap snapshots and a one-click leak finder. Built for the Floati engine, speaking the same protocol as the reference browser's DevTools.
Tabs & interface
Tabs look like the reference browser's: the active tab is raised and outlined into the toolbar, the others are separated by thin dividers. Scrolling through many tabs no longer drags the window, the mouse wheel scrolls them sideways, and the new tab button stays in reach.
